The FRCEM Primary

The FRCEM Primary examination is a single, three-hour multiple-choice question paper comprised of 180 SBAQs, or single best-answer questions.


Structure

UK Foundation Programme trainees may sit the FRCEM Primary during their first Foundation Year. Those who sit the FRCEM Primary before entering a GMC-approved Emergency Medicine training programme, however, should re-enter the training programme within seven years of their pass date, or the accreditation will expire.

The exam is conducted in IELTS Level 7 English, and follows the following format of 180 questions within six sub-categories:
