In order to become full members of the Royal College of Physicians, trainees are required to pass all three parts of the MRCP(UK) Diploma: Part 1, Part 2 Written, and Part 2 Clinical (PACES). Training in an internal medicine speciality may only begin once the MRCP has been successfully completed.
The MRCP(UK) examinations are the admission tests for Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom. The exams for the MRCP(UK) Diploma are GMC-approved, test the behaviours and knowledge of trainee doctors, and are split into three parts:
Once the three parts are complete, doctors are eligible to begin specialist training in the medical specialities. There are a maximum of six attempts per part.
