The North Yorkshire and East Coast Foundation School is one of three foundation schools, along with South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire, that make up the Yorkshire and Humber UoA. The School covers Scarborough and York in North Yorkshire, Hull in the East Riding, Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire, and Grimsby in North East Lincolnshire.
Hospital Trusts in North Yorkshire and the East Coast
There are three hospital trusts in the North Yorkshire School, covering a variety of locations and services. The only linked university in the area is Hull York Medical School.
North Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, including Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, and Scunthorpe General Hospital;
Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, including Hull Royal Infirmary; and
York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, including York Hospital, and Scarborough General Hospital.
In 2018, there were 562 posts across Yorkshire and Humber (North, West and South), with a competition ratio of 0.88.
Successful applicants to the NYEC School will be appointed to two-year programmes, and will not undergo a matching process midway through F1 for their second year.
