The Wessex Foundation School covers the area around the coastal cities of Southampton and Portsmouth in Hampshire. It also covers the towns of Salisbury and Winchester, as well as the Isle of Wight, and Jersey.

Their are nine hospital trusts in Wessex, covering a variety of locations and services. The only linked university in the area is the University of Southampton.

Successful applicants to the Wessex school will be allocated to a two-year programme, either with both years within the same trust, or each year in a different trust. Linked applications are not available at trust or programme level.
Rotation lengths vary greatly within the Wessex School, with more information available from the School’s website. The rotation lengths available include
one six-month rotation followed by two three-month rotations,
two six-month rotations,
three four-month rotations, and
four three-month rotations.
LTFT training is available in the form of reduced hours whilst working on a full-time basis, through slot-sharing, or in supernumerary positions. There are also eight F2 overseas work positions available, but these may only be undertaken in the US, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa. Academic Foundation Programme
There are 13 AFP posts available in the Wessex School during F2, with each including a four-month academic rotation. All but one of the posts are based at University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. There are no specific medical education posts.
